Complex La Milagrosa

THE GERONTOLOGICAL COMPLEX LA MILAGROSA, specializing in attention towards the dependent or care-needed elderly, consists of a Day Care Centre offering 70 vacancies and a Geriatric Residence with 64 vacancies. Exteriores del centro

Considered as one of the most modern Complexes of Attention to the Elderly in Europe, it stands out for: its DESIGN, based on the most modern tendencies in offering the best and most practical spaces for the elderly; its EQUIPMENT, perfectly adapted to the needs of potential users; its STAFF, highly qualified in the attention and caring of the elderly; and finally, by the application of the NEW TECHNOLOGIES to the users' service. Located on Avenida de Cádiz 5 (close to A Coruña train station), the building was formerly a primary school from which the centre took the name La Milagrosa, and it has been completely renovated and adapted for the current users. Now, it has wide spaces and a unique GERONTOLOGICAL GARDEN, which has been planned following the most updated environmental Standards addressed to elderly patients.

Day Care Centre

The Day Care Centre opened on November 5th, 2001, and offers 70 vacancies for the elderly, who can stay part-time (mornings or afternoons) or full time. It opens from 9 to 21 hours from Monday to Friday. Also, the Day Care Centre has two TRANSPORTATION UNITS to enable users' transportation to and from their homes. These transport units have different itineraries and different timetables within A Coruña council, in order to pick up and drop off users.

Structure and equipment

The MILAGROSA COMPLEX stands out for its TOTAL ACCESIBILITY, from the very moment the users enter the parking lot, by coming on their own or using our TRANSPORT UNITS. In this case, the ACCESS PLATFORM allows them to get in and out without any help. The whole COMPLEX is wired up with optical fiber, with voice and data access all over the building, including the users' bedrooms.

Consultas del centro

Doors are sliding doors to save space both when closing and opening, and have a CARD opening mechanism set up according to the different permissions given to users, relatives, visitors or staff. A VIDEOSUPERVISION system allows to have patients with risk of self-injuring monitored continuously, thus enabling their mobility and movement within the facilities. The TELEGERONTOLOGÍA® room, similar to a 'Call Center', allows us to be continuously connected with users who have this technology (developed by our centre in collaboration wit the Gerontology Research Group of the University of A Coruña) installed at home. This technology allows them to hold VIDEOCONFERENCE with our professionals, besides carrying out COGNITIVE TRAINING by means of a remote application called TELECOGNITIO® and follow VIDEOS with health contents.
